Moroccan Silver

Silver is a precious metal valued in the rural areas, while gold is sought after in cities. Worked in the villages of the plateaus and in the mountains, silver by itself or combined with coral and amber, makes substantial necklaces, forehead diadems, broaches, bracelets, and anklets. The southern mountains represent the stockhouse of Berber jewelry. Tiznit, Tan Tan, and Taroudant feature silver items characteristic of and highly prized by Berbers and nomads. Beyond jewelry, gold and silver is fashioned into sumptuous daggers inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones as well as stunning trays, tea services and pots, boxes, and other objects.
